Health & Safety
Automating scrap transfer minimizes safety risks by decreasing forklift traffic and scrap contact with operators.
Low Maintenance
PRAB conveyors have the industry’s leading reputation as being dependable low-maintenance equipment with long service lives. The In-floor trough conveyor offers no carryover issues, and only one moving part allowing for no operator involvement or contact with scrap.
Heavy-Duty
PRAB conveyors are built tough to withstand the harsh conditions and materials moved in the metalworking industry.
Value
PRAB’s load-out conveyor system provides even distribution of scrap into containers and maximizes container fill which leads to lower haul-away costs and get more value per container fill.

Engineered for Rugged, High-Volume Metalworking Environments

From discharge to stacking and loading, PRAB load-out conveyor systems are engineered for efficient final transfer of scrap into large trailers or railcars, maximizing container fill and reducing haul-away costs. These systems incorporate even distribution and optional automatic level sensing to ensure full payloads while minimizing labor and safety risks associated with manual handling. Ideal for centralized scrap cells and high-volume facilities, PRAB load-out solutions complete the material flow from generation to shipment.

Their extreme lifespan performance is a hallmark of PRAB’s “Built to Last” design. Whether your plant is located in North America or the EU, PRAB’s USA and Poland engineering centers provide identical product standards, local service, and rapid parts support—ensuring uptime and reliability worldwide.

PRAB Load-Out Systems use traversing, bi-directional steel-belt shuttle conveyors to evenly distribute stamping, die-casting, and machining scrap into containers, trailers, or railcars.

Result: Up to 60 % higher productivity, reduced forklift use, and maximum container utilization.

Key Advantages:

  • Even Fill Distribution – Continuous shuttle motion eliminates voids and maximizes haul-away efficiency.
  • Integral Weighing & Level Sensors – Prevent overload conditions and ensure every container meets weight limit compliance.
  • Heavy-Duty Steel Belting – Built to handle abrasive turnings, slugs, and die scrap for decades of reliable operation.
  • Low-Maintenance Design – Open frame, auto-lube system, and quick-access components reduce downtime.
  • Safety & Ergonomics – Removes operator contact with hot or sharp scrap, minimizing risk.
  • Configurable Discharge Options – Pant-leg, tilt, swivel, orbital, and stationary chutes to fit any plant layout.

Proven Load-out Systems – Integration Across Industries

PRAB engineers custom load-out systems to work seamlessly with:

  • In-floor conveyors and chip processing systems
  • Shredder/wringer or briquetter discharge lines
  • Centralized coolant recycling systems and fluid filtration loops

Example: In one stamping plant, PRAB’s shuttle system increased container fill by 20 % and cut scrap handling labor by 30 %—verified under the Performantee® Guarantee.

Application Review: Full-Service Recycler Increases Profits with Orbital Load-Out System

CHALLENGE Metal scrap recyclers face a mountain of business risk and volatility. In addition to fluctuating commodity prices, metalworking companies don’t collect scrap in their facilities efficiently. This means customer pick-ups are more frequent, containers are filled unevenly and with air pockets, and the return is reduced.     Forward-Thinking Scrap Recycling Improves Partnerships and Margins […]

Blog: Stick a Fork in Your Forklift Problem with Engineered Conveying Systems

The forklift truck is standard equipment for many industrial manufacturing operations that need to move enormous amounts (read: tons) of material from point A to point B, day in and day out. Most of these operations probably feel like they can’t live without forklifts. However, the convenience and expediency they provide, in addition to sparing workers the task of lifting […]

Choosing the right conveyor depends on five variables: scrap form, fluid content, abrasiveness, volume, and layout.

  • Use a Steel Belt Conveyor for mixed, sharp, heavy, hot, or abrasive scrap, and when you need long-term durability.
  • Use a Pivot Belt Conveyor for thin-gauge, oily, or sticky stamping scrap that tends to cling to belts.
  • Use an Oscillating Conveyor for gentle, horizontal chip or scrap movement, especially machine-side or in-pit transport.

Rule of thumb:

  • Versatile & heavy-duty: Steel Belt

  • Sticky/oily stamping scrap: Pivot Belt

  • Horizontal chip transfer: Oscillating
