With this method, chips and turnings may be dump loaded or conveyor fed to the units large capacity receiving hopper.  The cast alloy feed hopper is configured to feed and direct the material into the fixed cast cutters and rotating feeder arm.  Material is fed through the alloy cutter ring which reduces tough bushy turnings into shovel grade chips with ease and efficiency.

Within the crusher, occasional pieces of tramp metal lodged inside the chips and turnings can be removed automatically by hydraulic operated solids ejectors.  Under normal operation, the ejector is closed, but when tramp metal is encountered, the crusher stops and cycles the ejector allowing the solid material to be discharged.  The ejector automatically closes for continued operation.  Prab's Vertical-Axis Crushers are available either as a standalone unit or as part of a total integrated chip processing system.  You can expect to see a volume reduction by as much as 7 to 1.
